Yep you guessed it! We managed to find another excuse to use our Freefly MoVI M10. With only 30 minutes to capture a cinematic sequence of Olympic silver medalist Michael Jamieson, we really had our work cut out for us.
We used two cameras to capture the action, a Sony FS700 to get the super slick slow motion shots and a Cannon 5D mark III with an EF 24-70mm f/2.8 lens mounted on the MoVI M10 for the smooth cinematic tracking shots.
Holding the MoVI Rig with the camera mounted on it above the water at the side of the pool was a little precarious, however the resulting shots were well worth the risk. With the rig in this position and the MoVI’s fantastic stabilisation capabilities, we were able to track Michael up and down the 50m pool with ease. The resulting shots look as if the camera was in the pool gliding above the water ahead of Michael and provide a unique angle and perspective of the Sport.
We also used the MoVI to achieve a cinematic lift shot which then tracked in towards Michael from behind as he prepared to dive into the pool. This shot was done simply by holding the MoVI at a low position and then walking towards Michael and slowly raising the lightweight rig. The MoVI pretty much did all the work for us keeping the shot steady and the remote follow focus plus remote pan/tilt head meant that we could keep the image sharp and the shot framed correctly with ease.
